As the City of Corpus Christi works to coordinate all of its departments and emergency response agencies ahead of the weekend storms, they have included a new resource, that could help someone who may be stranded in flood waters. Companies monitoring the oil patch by drone

At a South Texas ranch, a drone mounted with cameras flew above and around a flare stack that burned natural gas. Live, high-definition images were transmitted back to the ground, where company officials watched video of the flare stack as it was operating, asking that the drone move this way or that to get a better image or different angle. Read more >>

Innovation and Opportunities Abound for Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Tremendous opportunities exist for innovation and research with unmanned aircraft systems and the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Lone Star UAS Center (LSUASC) of Excellence and Innovation is ready to help businesses develop those. Jerry Hendrix Named as Executive Director of Lone Star UAS Center

Jerry Hendrix was recently named the Executive Director of The Lone Star Unmanned Aircraft Systems Center of Excellence & Innovation at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Hendrix previously served as the center’s Chief Engineer as an employee of Camber Corporation, according to a news release. He has 32 years of aerospace industry experience.  Read more >>

Katrina: Aug. 31, 2005, 10th Anniversary of First Small UAS Flight

CRASAR was the first to fly SUAS for a disaster– Hurricane Katrina on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 for the state of Florida which was assisting with the Mississippi response. Other groups flew too, but CRASAR was first with iSENSYS and WinTEC as our Roboticists Without Borders partners.
