Mike leads the LSUASC’s effort to bring Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Urban Air Mobility technologies to Texas for Research, Development, Testing and Field Trials as well as educating Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) students on UAS related technologies and career opportunities.  Mike recently lead the successful capture for the $2.1M NASA Task Order 7 effort which will be the most complex small UAS Urban test event undertaken to date taking place in downtown Corpus Christi, TX in August 2019.  Mike also serves as Commander, Air Wing1 an additional role and mission assigned to the LSUASC in time of State or Federal disaster to provide dedicated Urban Search and Rescue UAS support to the Texas Task Force 1.   

Prior to joining the staff at TAMUCC, Mike served as an Infantry Officer in the US Army for 30 years in a variety of Command and Leadership positions.  His assignments included several combat deployments to include leading the Counter-IED effort in Afghanistan in 2011.  Mike was also well known throughout his Army career as an early adopter of transformational technology both as an experimentation lead for the Army’s Objective Force Task Force and while serving as Deputy Director for both the Army and Defense Modeling and Simulation Offices.  After retiring from the Army, Mike spent almost five years in the private sector, and was the Deputy Project Manager on a $5M Air Force modeling and simulation support services contract.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in History, and Master of Science degrees in Administration, Industrial Engineering (Interactive Simulation and Training Systems), and Strategic Studies.
