Our Vision

The principal thrust of LSUASC is UAS research, testing and commercialization, but the center also provides a superior educational environment and opportunities for preparing undergraduate and graduate students for employment in the multi-sector UAS industry.

The LSUASC team comprises six research institutions with a range of capacities from UAS airframe design, sensor development and communications technology to modeling and simulation and flight operations in airspace authorized by FAA.

LSUASC research focuses on UAS integration technologies but also offers diverse applications research across a wide range of industries.

  • Stand Up And Operate a FAA UAS Test Site Designated To Safely Integrate Civil and Public (DoD) Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Operations Into The National Airspace (NAS).
  • Guide Industry (US and Foreign) through the FAA safety and maturity process required to safely integrate Commercial UAS operations into the NAS.
  • Provide FAA R&D And Operational Data To Facilitate The Development of Procedures, Standards and Regulations for Safe UAS Operations in the NAS.
